Biographies


Florence Beck was born on September 2, 1899 in Aurora, New York. She came to Cornell in 1917 and graduated from the Department of Home Economics in 1921. From there Florence went to Trenton, New Jersey to teach home economics to students from eighth through twelfth grades. After a few years, she returned to Aurora and taught foods work at the high school in Sherwood, New York. Florence then came back to Cornell where she worked planning the menus for the campus dining halls. Florence is now 101 years old and a resident of Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home in Ithaca.
