This is a photograph of "Hidden Home," designed by
Helen Binkerd Young (1877
- 1959), as published in the
American Architect in 1927. Young
graduated from Cornell's architecture program in 1900 and taught household
arts from 1910 until 1921. Drawing heavily upon her architectural
training, she encouraged the application of design principles to home
planning and furnishing. In this way, she "helped women envision interior
design in a larger context."
