Scope and Content Note
Collection #4-3-2882 consists of photographic negatives and prints created by the Photo Science/Photographic Services division of Cornell University. Images include individual and group portraits, publicity photographs, Vet School photographs, illustrations for textbooks, project photographs, construction photographs, campus scenes, athletics and others. In the 1960s through the 1980s a large number of the images were taken for the Hotel School, CUAA, ILR, Vet College, Physical Education and various campus organizations such as the Big Red Band and the Glee Club.
A job list of the negatives in numerical and chronological order, as recorded by the Photo Sciences/Photo Services division, containing negative number, date, subject, and customer is available (not all negatives listed are contained in this collection). Publicity portraits and passport photos are not listed in the job log.
An index to the negatives is available for the years 1947-1957, for other photographs can be accessed using the job log.
The box list for the collection indicates the range of negatives within each box. For the portraits, the alphabetical range and years are listed. Portraits are in alphabetical order in two different groups: publicity and passport photos 1945-1979; Passport photos 1979-1990.
Images in this collection may be found through the use of the index and/or through use of the job log. If subject and date are known, an image can often be located in the list of jobs.
