Fledgling National Activism
Most activism remained at a local level in the 1950s and 1960s. However, as early as 1963, there was some effort to create a national agenda through coalition groups: first the East Coast Homophile Organizations (ECHO), then in 1966, the North American Conference of Homophile Organizations (NACHO).
