Gelatin silver print. Image depicts two baseball teams posed in front of
the Olive Hotel in Miles City, Montana. The teams were the railroad men
versus the wool buyers; the railroad men are the second row, decked out
in pith helmets. The wool buyers are the front row. Many are identified
on the reverse of the photo (in some cases including the company for
whom they worked), including a number of the bystanders in the back row,
several of whom are horse buyers, and the umpire who is at the far left
of the second row. Note the umpire carries two six-shooters in his
waistband. Several men on both teams carry baseball gloves; one in the
front row holds a baseball bat. 17.75 x 13 cm. (w/out mount); 28 x 22.75
