ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

The name Durfee Mill, Rocky Brook, South Kingston, R.I., is the only mill name that is mentioned in this volume. It is unclear whether R.G. Rodman or George M. Durfee was the owner; the Rodmans were active in the textile mill business in the North and South Kingston area. Mill may have been previously operated by Samuel Rodman who having sold most of his goods to the South, lost his business when the market collapsed during the Civil War. Business continued to operate under other owners.
