The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineermen (B of LF&E) was a trade union and fraternal benefit society in the 19th
and 20th Centuries. Beginning in 1873 as the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen (B of LF), it expanded its name
in 1907 to reflect many of its members being promoted to railroad engineers.
Over time the organization became more like a trade union and in 1969 the B of LF&E merged with the three other railway labor
organization to form the United Transportation Union.
