An excerpt from the report: "Kester was active in the formation of an inter-racial student movement in the south in the late
'20s and early '30s. He was an active organizer of the Southern Tenant Farmers Union 1935- 1940. In 1936, he wrote
"Revolt Among the Sharecroppers,' now available as a reprint. He founded the Committee of Southern Churchmen and spent
most of his active years as an educator. He retired in 1971, while Dean of Students at Montreat-Anderson College in North
Carolina."
Reprint of Howard Kester's report "The Lynching of Claude Neal," published by the Southern Rural Welfare Association. The
report was originally published by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on November 30,
1934.
