Judge William B. Groat (1899-1986) served as counsel to the New York State Joint Legislative
Committee on Industrial and Labor Relations, where he played a pivotal role in founding
the ILR School and drafting its charter.
Interview held on Friday, March 11, 1966. Judge William B. Groat, Jutice of the Supreme
Court of the State of New York, member of the Judicial Conference of the State of
New York, and member of the Advisory Council f the New York State School of Industrial
and Labor Relations, interviewed by Maurice F. Neufeld, of the New York State School
of Industrial and Labor Relations, concerning the origins of the New York State School
of Industrial and Labor Relations.
