RMC staff identified and retrieved campaign items from varied collections. In conjunction with staff from the Department of Preservation and Conservation, they identified any material in need of preservation treatment, repairs, or cleaning prior to digitization. Material that required conservation was conserved and rehoused.  Staff members also looked for items that were in copyright (although on an initial survey these appear to be few). RMC staff, in conjunction with CIDC, determined, based on the physical characteristics of objects, whether the items could be digitized with a flatbed or face-up scanner, or photographed with a digital camera. Finally, objects were sorted by size and type of material into groups prior to digital photography for more efficient workflow.
