Denis, Lorimer. Folklore Enfantin: Chants et Jeux des Enfants Haïtiens. Port-au-Prince: Impr. de l'État, 1949.“Cece,” a song about the wife of General Nord Alexis (president of Haiti from 1902-1908), is sung from the point of view of her servant who is frustrated by attempts to keep her separated from her lover. Cece had strict morals (moeurs sevère) and would send the servant to do menial tasks rather than let her remain with her lover. |
