BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Porus Olpadwala joined the Cornell faculty in City and Regional Planning in 1984, serving as department chair and then Dean of the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning from 1998-2004. From 2006 until his retirement in 2010, he served as Dale R. Corson Professor and Dean of Hans Bethe House. Earlier in his career, during the 1960s, he worked in the private sector in India with Price Waterhouse and the Indian affiliate of Jardine Mathesen. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Calcutta and an MBA and an MRP and PhD in regional planning from Cornell. His professional interests have been in political economy, comparative social and economic development, and urban and environmental issues.
COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

Files relating to his time as dean, to a proposed reorganization of the college units, and to his work at Bethe House. Includes "Re-alignment: The Defense of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning, Cornell University, 2002-2003," 1984-2003, copies of material relating to a threat by Cornell's central administration to disband the college, with some similar files by Ian R. Stewart from 1984, and copies of email from 2004-2009.
