Albert Charles Phelps came to Cornell in 1899 as an instructor, was appointed an
assistant professor in 1903, and a full professor in 1913. He became the World War
Memorial Professor of Architecture in 1920, a position he held until his death in
1937. A fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Professor Phelps specialized
in the history of architecture.
