The company, located in Worcester, Mass., was established in 1869 and incorporated in
1906. It made reeds for looms used in the manufacture of woolen and worsted goods,
cotton goods, narrow fabrics, and felt and also in making paper. John Whitaker ran
the company from 1869 to 1897. Richard K. Hutchins was president and treasurer in
the 1930's; his son, also Richard K., was president and treasurer after World War
II.
