The Greater Buffalo Industrial Union Council (GBIUC), formerly Erie County Industrial
Union Council, was organized in 1937 and served as the central body of CIO unions
in Buffalo and vicinity until GBIUC merged with the Buffalo Federation of Labor in
1958.
The Council participated in organizing work, in political activities (municipal,
state, and national), and in educational work (classes and the formation of educational
committees in local unions.).
