Biographical / Historical

U.S. Presidential Emergency Board No. 175 was appointed under the authority of the Railway Labor Act in 1969. The Board was invoked to investigate a dispute between the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen and the nation's railroads represented by the National Railway Labor Conference over what the signalmen claimed was a salary inequity when their wages were compared to those of shopcraft electricians. The Board, of which Seidenberg was a member, found for the union, recommending an additional 20 cents per hour increase. The papers contain the transcripts of the proceedings and carrier and union exhibits.
