PHOTOGRAPHYDuring the summer of 1886, while he was teaching at the Michigan Agricultural College, Bailey took part in a geological and botanical survey of northeastern Minnesota. During that trip, he made some of his first photographs-not of botanical specimens, but of Native American settlements. Exploration in Northern Minnesota.
