Unidentified Photographer. The Glessner House, Chicago, ca. 1887. Albumen print photograph. 15/5/3090.00155. Andrew Dickson White Architectural Photographs Collection, Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, Cornell University Library.
This photograph was taken around the time of completion of the Glessner House, which was designed for John J. Glessner, an executive for the International Harvester Company. The house offers a typical example of Richardson’s trademark Romanesque Revival-style facades. It is the only remaining building in Chicago by the architect, and was completed a year after his death. It is now a house museum: www.glessnerhouse.org
