MESL HOMEPAGE

Gallery Guide

Welcome to the Virtual Gallery of Impressionist Images.

Browsing the gallery rooms, you will find major themes represented by French and American Impressionist painters: cafe-concerts, peasant labor, picnics, regattas, and the ballet. Also included are seventeenth- and eighteenth-century artists who greatly influenced the Impressionists.

The gallery accompanies History of Art 362, "Impressionism and Society," a spring term course taught by Prof. Laura L. Meixner.
