In this 1997 mailing, HRC asked people to sign a petition endorsing legislation that would “outlaw job discrimination against lesbian, gay and bisexual Americans.” HRC fought for ENDA (the Employment Non-Discrimination Amendment), which was endorsed by President Bill Clinton, but which lost in the Senate by one vote in 1996.
