The Song of the Glacier -

Who wouldn't be a glacier,
 Descending to the sea
With Muir on hand to praise me
 Most multifariously ?
With Muir on hand to praise me
 And Gannett to surrey
Who wouldn't be a glacier
 Ascending from the bay!

Who wouldn't be a glacier
 with pinnacles at play
A-dropping little icebergs
 On Indians in the bay?
I open cheerful fissures
 And several kinds of splits
And frighten little Indian dogs
Out of their seven units [?]

Who wouldn't be a glacier
 Receding from the shore?
My lovers come in boat-loads
 Determined to explore.
In open admiration
 Innumbered [?] ladies throng
And wave their kerchiefs from the rail
Till the steward rings the gong.

Who wouldn't be a glacier -
 An influenza-cure?
My benefits afforded
 To rich as well as poor;
Spontaneously provided
 According to John Muir -

To lie upon the glacier
 Free from all bronchial pain
And think upon the family
 We ne'er shall see again,
Ah - this beats all the castles
 Erected in old Spain -
