A Word about Endowments of the Fiske Icelandic Collection

Throughout its existence, the Fiske Icelandic Collection has benefited from the generosity of individuals and organizations interested in the unique literature and civilization of Iceland. Willard Fiske was the first of these benefactors. Substantial endowments have followed from Peter B. Dirlam, from the family of Giles F. Shepherd, and from Miriam Sharett Spear.

The government and people of Iceland have contributed generously to the Fiske Collection's growth for more than a generation through an annual Parliamentary subvention.

Numerous individuals from Iceland and abroad have offered us their own collections of books on Iceland or copies of works that they have authored.

To all who have supported the development of the Fiske Icelandic Collection through the twentieth century, Cornell University Library expresses its most profound appreciation.
