Focussed mainly on the national level, the collection contains many documents issued by the National Convention of 1792-1795, as well as some by the Constituent Assembly and a few by the Legislative Assembly. Also included is official correspondence of the Ministry of War, Ministry of Finance, and other government bodies, including the Council of Five Hundred and the Executive Directory during the Directory of 1795-1799. Documents include minutes of meetings, responses to petitions by needy individuals, discussion of the disposal of the property of émigrés, orders for the arrest or release of individuals under suspicion, and instructions on financial matters. Also included are pre-Revolutionary documents, such as proceedings of the Parlements of Paris and Pau, reports of unrest in various parts of France, and complaints to Louis XVI from the nobles of Brittany and the three estates of the Dauphiné. bAlso included are a 1789 letter by Brissot de Warville expressing his views on slavery, and a contemporary Italian translation of the Testament of Louis XVI. On the local level, the collection contains many documents concerning Paris, including decrees of mayors Jean-Sylvain Bailly and Jérôme Pétion, and on Toulon.
