Founded in 1913, the International Fur and Leather Workers Union was a craft-based organization with a long history of radicalism. The records, 1913-1955, comprise General Executive Board minutes, administrative records, local union correspondence, and papers of union officers. Well documented are the union’s organizing efforts, the internal struggles against corruption, and the radical activities of its members. Much material pertains to the effects of conservative pressures on its leaders-- particularly Ben Gold—to renounce their radical persuasion.
