Abstract:
Transcripts and tape recordings of interviews with Ithaca, New York area lesbians
and bisexual women, conducted by Esterberg in 1989-1990. The interviews address the
ways in which lesbian and bisexual women identify their sexual identities through
clothing, behavior, hair style, food preferences, etc. The interviews also explore
the adoption and rejection of gendered roles by the interviewees in their search for
a lesbian community and for same-sex relationships.
