ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

The Methodist Church of Savona was built in 1843. Previous to this services had been held in the schoolhouse by the Reverend Mr. Story and other early preachers. Among the oldest members were Elisha McCoy and the Hughes family, headed by Issachar Hughes.

Part 1. Record of Baptisms
Lists date of baptism; name of the baptised person, and, if an infant, the name of its parents or guardians; the date of birth of the baptised person, if an infant; the residence of the party baptised; the name of the officiating minister; and the names of the witnesses.
Part 2. Record of Marriages
Includes the date, name of the parties, their residences, place of marriage, the officiating minister and witnesses.
Part 3: Record for Probationers
Listed are the date, name, age, condition, residence, class leader and remarks for each probationer.
Part 4: List of Members
Includes names, residence, date and mode of reception, and the name of the class leader, revised several times. A list of preachers, stewards and leaders is after the first list. After the first list the names are alphabetized.
Part 5: Record of the Classes
Names, date, leader, remarks and where the class met are listed for 1-4 classes.
