COLLECTION DESCRIPTION

Transcripts of graffiti chalked on sidewalks during Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Awareness month at Cornell, originating from members of Cornell's gay and lesbian community, and collected by members of the staff of the Department of Manuscripts and University Archives. The bulk of the graffiti was in response to the University Grounds Crew's selective washing out of gay graffiti celebrating Gaypril in 1990. The collection includes samples of the gay community's response, publicity, and clippings pertaining to the incident. Also, correspondence relating to other incidences of homophobic graffiti.
