Life of John West Jackson

REMOVED now part of World War II servicemen alumni files, #41-2-822. Bound volume
titled Life of John West Jackson 1917-1942 by his mother Isabel Morrison West Jackson
at 14 Cooper Parkway Pittsfield Massachusetts has been removed and added to Jackson's
deceased alumni folder.
Jackson was a member of the Cornell University Class of 1942 and was commissioned
as a pilot. He was killed in an automobile accident July 15, 1942. The volume includes
some documentation of him spending time at Heller House. The volume, written to Isabel's
grandchildren, John's children, documents John's life and tells family history. It
includes family photos and also photos of flying a glider and Jackson with a plane.
There is mention of his time at Cornell and riding a motorcycle. Also some poetry
including a hand written copy of High Flight by John G. Magee Jr..

Large format manuscript reproducing the text of a verse from inside a copy of the
volume Italian Villas and Their Gardens by Edith Wharton that was presented to William
Henry Miller by H. A. E. July 1906. This manuscript was framed and on display in the
entry of the Miller-Heller house.The manuscript was likely created by Andrea Sylvia
Kutsko.
