The minute books of Local 2601 of the United Steelworkers of America (Lackawanna, N.Y.) comment upon the following issues and topics: wage adjustments; premium pay; wage incentive; unemployment benefits; pensions; holidays; vacations; workers' compensation; disability benefits under the Social Security Act; unemployment insurance; safety on the job; the Labor Relations and Safety Committee; education programs of the Local; union shops; the importance of buying union made products; the issue of solidarity; merger negotiations of the A.F. of L. and CIO; United Steelworkers constitutional violations; the House Un-American Activities Committee; affidavits stating non-membership in a communist or other subversive group; charges against individuals found guilty of being members of the Communist Party and expelled from membership; steel company propaganda; picket lines; strike preparations; the Bethlehem Steel Strike (1959); the Carrier Corp.
