Thousands of photographs and postcards documenting gay men's lives, styles, and activities and men's bodies and comradeship with other men from the 1850s to 2010. Categories include actors, athletes, the body, crime, dancers, drag, the military, pornography and sexual activity, and S&M. Includes photographs by George Platt Lynes and a large number of posing photographs for physique and beefcake magazines starting in the 1940s. Mostly comprised of images of white men in the United States, the collection also contains outstanding photographs of men of color and nearly 100 photographs of U.S. and European lesbians and women in drag, plus associated magazines, programs from events, scrapbooks, calendars, sound recordings, gay-themed comic books, and other ephemera.
